Puri Says Ethanol Is Used in Racing Cars, Citizens Ask Gadkari for Race-Track Quality Roads

After Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said ethanol is used even in racing cars, Indian motorists had a simple request for Nitin Gadkari: “Sir, if the fuel is Formula 1-ready, can the roads be Formula 1-ready too?”

New Delhi: After Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri pointed out that ethanol is used even in racing cars and can improve acceleration, millions of Indian motorists reportedly developed a sudden interest in another aspect of motorsports:

The roads.

While the government expected a national debate on ethanol blending, mileage, and fuel efficiency, citizens had a completely different question for Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari:

“Sir, if we’re getting racing-car fuel, when are we getting racing-track roads?”

The demand gained momentum within hours.

Social media users flooded the internet with side-by-side photos of Formula 1 circuits and local roads after the monsoon, challenging experts to identify which one was designed for racing and which one was designed for survival.

One commuter welcomed the minister’s comments.

“We are happy to hear that ethanol improves acceleration,” he said while carefully steering around three potholes, two stray dogs, and a surprise speed breaker. “Now we just need roads where we can actually use that acceleration.”

Another motorist claimed his car already experiences racing conditions every day.

“My suspension has seen more action than most Formula 1 drivers. The only difference is that they get trophies.”

According to sources, officials were surprised by the public response.

“We explained that ethanol is used in racing cars,” said one bureaucrat. “We didn’t expect people to immediately start demanding Formula 1-quality roads.”

Meanwhile, automobile enthusiasts have proposed a new scheme called ‘Fuel Like Formula 1, Roads Like Formula 1’.

Under the proposal, every highway would be smooth enough for a sports car, every pothole would become a protected heritage site, and every speed breaker would come with advance notice.

The proposal has reportedly received overwhelming public support.

At press time, citizens were still waiting for confirmation on whether the government’s next announcement would focus on ethanol-powered racing cars or roads where a cup of tea can survive a 10-kilometre journey without spilling.
